GLA participation in AULC panel discussion

The AULC conference 2026 held at the University of Oxford (8 & 9 Jan 2026) hosted the panel discussion "Language educator networks in the Age of Austerity and AI". The panel brought together representatives of ELEUK, FLEUR, BATA, BATJ and GLA to share their work as well as to discuss challenges they face in the current climate. Members of NILI and TROPO were present in the audience, and added their perspectives. Despite differences in the history, background, and specific contexts of the associations and networks, they all share common challenges such as ensuring sustainability of the initiatives, and increasing the diversity of membership. The panel members agreed that coming together under the auspices of the AULC opened up a very valuable dialogue between language networks/associations. A proposal for creating a AULC forum for language educator networks/associations submitted by FLEUR is currently under consideration by the AULC executive committee.
